War of the Worlds
I went to see War of the Worlds yesterday night and it was totally awesome! Just wondering if any of you had seen it too, or were planning on seeing it. It was really a different type of alien movie, in that the focus wasn't on the aliens ( where they came from, what they were like, etc.) but rather on a father/daughter relationship. In fact, we learned next to nothing about the aliens, except what they were "allergic" to, lol. The focus really stayed on the human story - Tom Cruise and his kids and their survival during total pandemonium. The scariest scenes in the movie were those featuring panicked mobs or a wacked-out Tim Robbins. So anyway, they are just my thoughts on the movie.:) Definitely not for little kids though, too many scary scenes and bad language.

Well, sci-fi's not my strong suit so I may or may not see it but I'm really not pushing for it (or against it). Bad language, eh? I'm curious to know if it was extremely bad (i.e., frequent, strong, etc.). Thanks
Hi all,
The movie was really great!!! Incredibly realistic. Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning were excellent.... The language wasn't that bad, not overwhelming.... But anyway it was a great movie!!
I do think this movie was more realistic and more intense than the usual alien flicks, I guess because most of it took place in heavily populated areas, as opposed to the small town/countryside.
I don't really know what to say about the language intensity, I mean it wasn't extremely bad. Like MVB said, it wasn't overwhelming, but it definitely was noticeable. It's a shame. :(
True about the language....it seems like you can't find ANY decent movies that don't have it (apart from Christian flicks anyway....anyone see Hangman's Curse?)
No, I haven't seen that, in fact, I've never heard of it. :( But have you seen The Village? That was a pretty good movie and I don't think there was any language in that. :)
I was going to see The Village but it didn't work out.
Hangman's Curse is based on a book (of the same title) by Christian author Frank Peretti. Mr. Peretti produced the movie and actually played one of the parts. The sequel is coming out sometime in the next two years. (called Nightmare Academy).
I hate the fact that so many movies are like that...And it's almost bad going to see a movie with just a "little" bad language.
I actually got to see the plane crash set in Universal's back lot last week!
Hey, that's really cool!! That must have been really impressive, at least it was on the screen. :)
Ah, Frank Peretti. :) Ever read This Present Darkness? I have it on my shelf begging to be read but I haven't gotten to it yet.
Read it and LOVED it. Peretti is a spectacular author (it's really kinda paradoxical how a guy with ADD writes such long books!). There was talk of This Present Darkness being made into a movie as well...go Frank!
I would love to see War of the Worlds, I just dont' know when I'll be able to see it!
